TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — No. 2 LSU leads No. 3 Alabama 10-7 after one quarter of play. Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow is a perfect 6-of-6 passing for 89 yards and one touchdown — a 33-yarder to Ja’Marr Chase. The capped off a 92-yard drive that started with a fumble by Crimson Tide quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who dropped the ball while on his way into the end zone. Tide punter Ty Perine fumbled a snap on Alabama’s next drive, which allowed the Tigers to drive down and kick a field goal.

Alabama’s defense then forced a stop late in the first quarter to force a punt. Jaylen Waddle fielded it, got spun around by his facemask (no flag) and took off 77 yards for the touchdown to cut LSU’s lead to 10-7. Tagovailoa started under center for the Crimson Tide, and is 4-of-8 passing for 49 yards after one.
